Your typical Thanksgiving post....

(OK, I wrote this yesterday and posted it on MySpace, but I thought it would be a good way to start my blog here!)

In an effort to actually spend time with my family tomorrow, I've decided to write and post this blog now. I know it's the typical thing that everyone writes at Thanksgiving, but I've realized that I just don't take enough time to sit down and think about all of the wonderful things in my life. It's too easy to get stressed out and caught up with the day to day things and miss all of the amazing little things that I'm blessed with every day. With that in mind, I'm going to do my best to make a list of just a few of the things I have to be thankful of this year!
1) First and foremost, my wonderful family: I have great relationships with my brother, sister, and parents, and they're all healthy and doing well and that's HUGE!2) My amazing friends all over the country: I am blessed with friends in Indiana, Kansas City, North Carolina, Indy, Florida and countless other places. Even though I'm not constantly in contact with most of them, I can always count on them for support and an amazing time whenever we do get to see each other.3)Getting my first choice for third year rotations: I'm so excited to be going to St. Vincent's in Toledo; it will be an awesome experience to learn in a completely different way than I have yet and grow some more!4)On that note, I'm blessed to even be in med school. I'm so thankful that I've been given a dream and the opportunity to pursue it so early in my life! I love what I'm learning and what I have the chance to become5)Regardless of however many situations I've been through this last year that have at the time been stressful and challenging, I have learned SO many lessons (a lot of times the hard way) and I am on my way to being a different person because of all of these situations. While I know I haven't always made the best decisions, I've been given the chance to start again after a lot of not so good situations and learn from my mistakes....I guess this comes down to the simple fact that I'm thankful for GRACE!6)I'm thankful that I have the opportunity to see both family and friends over this break and celebrate and relax with all of them.7)I'm thankful for my (well, my brother's) brand-new puppy that brings so much love and fun into our lives.8)I'm thankful for getting this far through school and not only surviving, but doing better than I thought possible! (completely not by my ability!! God's awesome!)9)I know it sounds cheesy, but I'm completely thankful that I live in a country where I'm able to get an education, do what I want with my life, and succeed in whatever way I can without unjust boundaries.10)I'm thankful that my family, friends, and God realize that I'm not yet who I will be and I'm a work in progress and have the grace every day to put up with the annoying things I do that are (I hope!) being worked out of me as I slowly become the person I am meant to be.
There's about a thousand other things I have to be thankful for, but I thought I should keep this relatively short!
Thanks to every one of you for all of the love you've given me, all of the support you constantly show me, and all of the fun times we've ever had together. I am so blessed to have each one of you in my life, and you all are amazing, wonderful people! I love you!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
